Thanks for visiting TaylorChristianJones.com!

Hi, my name is Taylor Christian Jones and I am a photographer. I enjoy shooting portraits and commercial advertisements. My images have a very obvious look to them, and I will use this blog to give you some help in coming up with your own style. I have been shooting for about 2 years now, and I have never taken a course in photography. I have a graphic designer background, and that will become more and more evident as you look at my photos.

If you have any specific questions, or would just like to say hello, please feel free to email me- taylorchristianjones@gmail.com

The seasons have changed

A lot of my friends are heading back to school around this time of the month. I met up with Casey, Sam, Jason, and a few others to hang out and shoot a bit. We set up lights, and those shots will be up after a while.

At the moment, I’m packing for a trip to Nashville. I’ll be shooting with my friend Steven Taylor. We’ll be shooting a few different bands and it should be a nice weekend adventure. My friend Caleb Chancey has a really great blog, and you should check it out. He shoots natural light medium format, and it always looks gorgeous. If you’re in Nashville this weekend, and want to meet up, feel free to shoot an email my way. Maybe we can set something up. Look forward to a good video from this weekend.

It’s my birthday

Subaru WRX STI

Today, Cameron and I went location scouting for a car shoot. I took a few natural light photos along the way. It was a rather eventful scouting session. We even got pulled over.

David Pressley

I started the task of scanning my medium format. I’ve been letting a local camera shop do the job, and it has looked awful. Now, with the power of my Epson V700, I will slowly start to create a film portfolio.

I took this photo of my friend David at the beginning of the summer before he moved to Ukraine.

The Art of Killing 2 Birds

My friend Ben needed a photo to use for his website layout. Obviously it’s a composite- not the best, or most interesting, but it’s exactly what he was looking for.

I shot the Soundtrack about a month ago in Atlanta. They lost a member recently, so I decided to do them a favor and give them a new group photo! I used the same background photo from Ben’s web layout photo, and created this piece.

The Soundtrack Part 2

I was in Atlanta a few weeks back doing new promo’s for the Soundtrack. I did most of the shoot on medium format, but I won’t have that film back for another week or so. For now, here are some digital shots, and a video.

Here is some of the video footage from our shoot. Take note of the 4,000 sq. ft. studio.

Film

I have received a few messages asking me to change my default image size for posting. I will try to keep things under 750px wide from now on.

This past week has been a lot of fun. I’ve been shooting some 35mm on a camera I bought off of a graphic designer from LA. I am spending today doing location scouting for a shoot I have on Saturday morning. Do you guys know of anyone who repairs Mamiya lenses?

Cameron is always getting his photo taken. He’s my wing man, so he has to put up with it. Today, he destroyed his car, but he walked away. I feel it’s necessary to put up a few film shots I took of him earlier this week.

Eric Essix Album Artwork Shoot

My friend Cameron and I recently had a photo shoot in Birmingham. There are few people I feel comfortable shooting around, mainly because I don’t trust people using the same lighting set up for their own shoots… Not that I look down on that, (nobody can be completely original), but it’s very distracting to shoot creatively with such thoughts in the back of your mind. The way we decided to work the shoot was that Cameron would shoot a location, we’d pack up, and head to another location, and I would shoot. I have a short clip from the shoot if you’d like to see what our day was like. Eric is a really nice guy to hang out with. He has some cool stories about going to school in South Boston (thinking Good Will Hunting.)
